Pisa is well known as a city of art, but not everyone knows that, not far from the center, it is possible to spend a day at the beach. Along the new cycle path “Trammino” you can discover the seaside of Marina di Pisa. This is a perfect tour for families and for those who want to ride safely and quietly, between the countryside, the pine forest and the sea. This route offers amazing landscapes, such as the Mouth of the Arno (Bocca d’Arno), characterized by the presence of “scales” and “retoni” (large fishing nets placed on wooden constructions similar to stilts) and the characteristic tourist harbor. Along the coast it is possible to stop to take a swim, taste good fried seafood and an excellent ice cream. This is a tour a tour where the real stars are you, the sun and the sea!

This tour follows the Serchio river, where it takes its natural landscape, the bed broken by the water jumps, the bushy terraces with many varieties of birds. The Puccini cycle path (named from the famous composer Giacomo Puccini who was born in Lucca) connects the Serchio valley to Lucca, where we can admire the medieval towers and the “Rocca di Ripafratta”, reaching the ancient walls of Lucca. The path above the city walls offers a breathtaking view. Art, music, history, food, wine, Lucca is a source of incredible treasures. We will cycle through the narrow streets downtown where the towers stand out above the roofs. The Guinigi Tower with its hanging garden on the top; the ancient shops along via Fillungo, the squares of the Roman amphitheater and that of Napoleon, so enchanting! For a gourmet stop in Lucca, visitors are spoiled for choice: from cecina, to necci (chestnut pancake) with ricotta, buccellato, Lucchese soup, etc… We are sure you will enjoy all!

Escape the typical tourist itineraries and experience Pisa like a Pisan! There is so much more to see here than the Leaning Tower. The tour starts at Plaza Vittorio Emanuele II. From there, we’ll go to Keith Haring’s imposing "Tuttomondo" mural, a symbol of peace and harmony. We’ll walk along Corso Italia next. It’s one of the city’s most important streets, and it’ll lead us to the River Arno. I’ll tell you about the history of Pisa along the way, to prepare you for the wonderful palaces that dominate the riverbank and the central Piazza Garibaldi with its stunning view. Borgo Stretto is next, then Piazza delle Vettovaglie where I’ll show you the old medieval tower houses and the gorgeous Piazza dei Cavalieri. We’ll finish the tour with a boom at the Field of Miracles, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can admire the spectacular Leaning Tower of Pisa there, and I’m sure you’ll be impressed by the beauty of the Cathedral and the Baptistery.
