Authentic Stories from Diners
Great experience! Had gluten free sea food pasta and pasta with sausage and mushrooms and it was delicious. Aperol was perfect as well. The service was fast and the waiter very polite!
Il Peperoncino in Pisa is a warm and welcoming restaurant that perfectly balances traditional Tuscan charm with an authentic local atmosphere. Located just a few steps from the Leaning Tower, it offers an ideal break after a long day of sightseeing. The decor is simple yet cozy, with friendly staff who make you feel at home the moment you walk in. Service is consistently praised for being attentive and kind — they often surprise guests with a complimentary limoncello at the end of the meal. The menu focuses on regional Italian cuisine, featuring pasta, pizza, and fresh seafood. One of the standout dishes is the pasta with sausage and truffle, rich, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. Seafood lovers will appreciate the spaghetti ai frutti di mare, while meat enthusiasts can try the grilled filet with balsamic glaze. Desserts such as tiramisù and panna cotta complete the experience beautifully. Prices are reasonable for the central location, and the quality of food justifies the cost. The restaurant also accommodates vegetarian and gluten-free preferences. Although it can get crowded during peak hours, especially around dinner time, arriving early ensures a more relaxed experience. Overall, Il Peperoncino delivers a delightful taste of Tuscany with genuine hospitality and memorable flavors.
After walking around the main street to choose where to eat, we stopped at this place.. the host was very kind and talk to us and explain the menu.. we decided to give it a try. Food was quite tasty, the pasta we order was the diavola, which it was actually spicy...so that was good. Pizza margarita was simple but delicious. Service was good.
It was ok. We should have known by the closeness to the tower and the fact that only Americans were eating there that it would be fine but not great. Ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese and hubby got the lasagna. It all needed salt and the lasagne was dry. The bread was dry-couldn’t get my teeth through the crust. We have been ordering house red wine to claret success the whole trip and this one was the first sub par. We didn’t stay for dessert.
We had doubts about the food at first, since it is near the Pisa Tower, despite the high reviews they have but decided to try it and the food is actually delicious. The waiters and everyone there were also very nice and welcoming. Highly recommend it if you want a meal near the Tower.
