Pisa is well known as an artistic city, but not everyone knows that it is possible to spend a day at the beach not far from the city center. This tour follows the "Trammino" new cycle path to the seaside resort of Marina di Pisa. A lovely route awaits you, ideal for families and those looking for a peaceful ride through the countryside, pine forest, and sea. This route offers you breathtaking scenery, such as the Arno's Mouth (Bocca d'Arno), which is known for the presence of scales and Retoni (large fishing nets placed on wooden constructions similar to stilts) and the typical tourist harbor. There are many restaurants along the coast where you can taste good fried seafood and eat delicious ice cream. This tour follows the Serchio river, where it takes its natural landscape, the bed broken by the water jumps, the bushy terraces with many varieties of birds. The Puccini cycle path (named from the famous composer Giacomo Puccini who was born in Lucca) connects the Serchio valley to Lucca, where we can admire the medieval towers and the “Rocca di Ripafratta”, reaching the ancient walls of Lucca. The path above the city walls offers a breathtaking view. Art, music, history, food, wine, Lucca is a source of incredible treasures. We will cycle through the narrow streets downtown where the towers stand out above the roofs. The Guinigi Tower with its hanging garden on the top; the ancient shops along via Fillungo, the squares of the Roman amphitheater and that of Napoleon, so enchanting! For a gourmet stop in Lucca, visitors are spoiled for choice: from cecina, to necci (chestnut pancake) with ricotta, buccellato, Lucchese soup, etc… We are sure you will enjoy all!
